Tantrum

or rather... maybe I should now classify Tallon as having full- blown temper tantrums. Although prior to this week, I have seen Tal's "sin nature" and temper tantrum ability come out, it has NEVER been as severe as the past two days.

I have entered a new "stage". I have become "that mom". Yes, you know- the one who LEAVES the grocery cart full of groceries in the middle of the store and walks out, all the while holding a kicking, hitting and screaming red-faced toddler in her arms.

I have now spend 2 different times sitting in the front seat of my car, with Tal screaming his head off in the backseat. for atleast 15 minutes. No music, just some air-conditioning ( it has been HOT here and I am 5 months pregnant!) and a very unhappy child.

What has happened to my "sweet,laid-back, usually obediant" boy?!?! I really hope I can find him so that we can go out in public again together.

Lord,
Give me wisdom in knowing how to appropriately discipline and raise up this child to know you, love you and serve you! Give me patience! Help me to be consistent!

Proverbs 22:6
Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.

Hang in there! When I had completely reached my limit with Anna during this stage the Lord sent me an awesome book that has miraculously changed my little girl (and many others who've read and implemented it as well). It's called Don't Make Me Count to Three by Ginger Plowman. AWESOME, easy, quick read. www.gingerplowman.com

I completely understand! We had a stage where we walked out of stores multiple times. It is a phase and will pass...ours passed rather quickly although I'm sure it will return from time to time. A friend recommeded a book called "When Your Child Drives You Crazy" by Eda Leshan. I haven't read all of it, but the parts that I've read have been very helpful. Hang in there!! ; )

Oh girl, we have ALL been "that mom". You are a wise, discerning, God-fearing momma. Hang in there and know that Tallon is in good hands. Press on, sister!

I've been there with Owen too! I have read two books that were helpful...The Strong Willed Child by James Dobson, and 1-2-3 Magic which I highly recommend and I believe they have recently come out with 1-2-3 Magic for Christian Parents. It WILL pass, and then you'll face a new challenge...but know these 'trials' only help us to be stronger in Him, for them!!!

don't i know what you are talking about!!! I think every mom can say that she has been that mom - at least I'm part of that club. I think it's evident not only that our children need Jesus, but we do, too - every day. Thanks for your honesty. You make me smile.
